In February, having successfully 'piloted' our hedge planting techniques we launched the community hedge planting project on February 6th with two showings of the award winning puppet show, The Man Who Planted tress. This was fabulous. If you have never seen this seek it out and go watch. Almost 300 people came to watch. Check it out at www.puppetstate.com
The following day, Saturday 7th, 50 people, including children, planted hedging at Ettrick Bay. This was the first date of many. The next will be March 14th and then we must take a break until the autumn as it will be the end of the planting season.
Throughout this time work has been continuing on the Tramway project and the dry stone walling.
We also completed out second project claim to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and were audited by Fiona Southern of the HLF on the 23rd. This was a success.
The week commencing February 23rd was the third Storytelling week. The Storytellers involved around 100 children and also worked with the Stroke Club and the Talespinners. There was also a Storyelling night in the Black Bull. Come along next time, Thursday March 26th.
