Archaeological Discoveries Revealed……(with free tea, coffee and biscuits!)
An afternoon talk and poster presentations about the latest archaeological work on the island. Learn about projects relating to survey, field walking, geophysics, excavations, place names, artefacts, reconstruction of past environments and sea levels, the Johnny Bute Bursary Programme and much more. View new records of the islands archaeology. See archaeological artefacts and sign up for planned future projects.
Entry to the event is free and open to all. There is no set schedule for the poster sessions so people can drop in whenever they wish.

The Lost Church of Old Quien...?

Come and explore the past with DBLPS archaeologist Paul Duffy and friends in a week of hands-on learning sessions all about archaeology. This is a FREE event, run by Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme and involving some of Scotland’s top archaeologists

Book Launch

The launch of THE definitive guide to the archaeology of Bute as identified and surveyed by Bute’s residents working with the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historic Monuments of Scotland through the Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme.
The book will be launched at Rothesay Castle by Mike Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning on Saturday 20th November starting at 2pm. Some places still remain for this UNIQUE event but hurry, they are being booked fast.

Johnny Bute Bursary 2011

As part of the Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme (DBLPS) the Marquis of Bute, is kindly funding two further individual bursaries of £500 each for students to develop research projects which focus on the archaeology of the Isle of Bute, Scotland.
