 | Paul Duffy The results of the geophysics at St Colmacs stone circle are now in the documents section of the website. Many thanks to all who helped with this highly successful project – what was once lost is now found, with intriguing hints that the prehistoric ceremonial landscape around St Colmacs is far more extensive than we ever knew before!

 | Paul Duffy The second part of the paleoenvironmental fieldwork will take place on Friday. Scott and Abby from Headland archaeology will be going back to Red Loch area to take another peat core which will be subject to detailed pollen analysis over the next few months to produce a comprehensive master record of landscape change on Bute since the end of the last ice age!
If you are interested in seeing coring in action or enjoyed it so much the first time you want to go back you are welcome to join them – meeting point is in Guilford square at 10 am. You will need to arrange your own transport/lift shares for this one, and be prepared for the walk to the loch.
According to the BBC weather forecast it will be sunny so I’d suggest you dress appropriately (ie waterproofs and warm clothes!), wear stout boots and bring a packed lunch as usual.
